It's a Wrap! One Tough Slog for Kennedy 50-Mile Walkers

The 50-Mile Kennedy Walk was held for the 5th year on February 10, 2018. It was a tough go for about 60 participants as they marched through rain, fog and ice along the C&O Canal.

The forecast called for milder weather but it never made an appearance. Rain started early at about daybreak and continued for most of the day. The conditions caused a higher number of walkers to drop out than normal as the weather took its toll. Despite the conditions, we estimate about 20 walked the entire 50 miles. More details will follow soon after the checkin data and participant surveys are reviewed.

The event was also graced by Kerry Kennedy Townsend, the granddaughter of RFK and friends who made it to the end. Mom, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend join the group at end in Harpers Ferry after monitoring her progress all day. We all agreed that Grandpa would have been proud of you... and all that participated this year.

We'll be posting photos soon. If you have any you would like to post in the Gallery please forward by email or dropbox to
